Birds, cats, plants, politics. Seattleite sick of Seattle process. I flit between topics like a hummingbird, but hyper-focus like a corvid. Photography, gardening, podcasts. Mom of a tween, eng partner, keeper of two cats, a dog, fish. Obv ADHD.

But the dock isn't going away, and many of us don't want it to. Having ferry service right here in the neighborhood is an amenity, and it brings revenue. Same with adding people via upzoning! Opposing improvements to the infrastructure bc you're opposed to growth and change is myopic and selfish (2)
Went out to check on my side yard and found the checkermallow in bloom πŸ’•
Those of us who walk or bike around here, or have kids or other dependents, want our neighborhood to be safe. We have an amazing park with a saltwater pool, multiple playgrounds, and cool trails. We have Rapid Ride and ferries. We are a neighborhood people want to visit, and we should embrace that.
Also, multiple comments on the @seattletimes-rss.bsky.social reporting attempted to clarify facts and correct poor wording from the reporter. So far no corrections have been made, but they promptly turned off commenting πŸ™„
Yesterday's cyclist death here in the Fauntleroy neighborhood is horrific, but I hope it refocuses people on how obstructionist the FCA has been in improving safety for all in our neighborhood. They have clung to some unrealistic ideal that the ferry dock can just go away if they complain enough (1)

Corroborated on Reddit, but weirdly 🀑, Seattle Times' reporting, which parrots what police say, implies this was just an unfortunate and unavoidable accident caused by a clumsy cyclist. (ST screenshot, then a WSB comment from Fauntleroy Community Association VP Catherine Bailey.)
@soseaemerald.bsky.social today has this bizarre chiding lecture of an op-ed on coyotes πŸ™„ TL;DR: most people in Seattle hate coyotes and want them to die* and also that's racist** *In reality, calls to cull coyotes are uncommon and unpopular here **Yikes πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« southseattleemerald.org/voices/2026/...
Some of what's blooming in my (fairly shady) West Seattle yard now: large-flowered collomia (collomia grandiflora), goatsbeard (aruncus dioicus), snowberry (symphoricarpos albus), Pacific ninebark (physocarpus capitatus), blue thimble-flower (gilia capitata), western columbine (aquilegia formosa)
