A strong hint from human genetics that changes in DNA methylation may be causal for normal aging. This is the direction that aging (and cancer) research needs to go! www.nature.com/articles/s41...
6-way multiplexing at the first step allows 10-20 libraries to be made in parallel Great work Neesha and thanks to our collaborators and our funders
TrAEL-seq profiles rival quality to OK-seq but are much easier to generate
TrAEL-seq read density reflects the speed or replication forks, allowing quantification of interactions with genomic elements such as transcription
Need to profile DNA replication genome-wide? TrAEL-seq reveals replication patterns and fork progression in unsynchronised, unlabelled and unsorted cells Our revised protocol: • Provides far better data from mammalian cells • Includes 6-way multiplexing academic.oup.com/nar/article/...
The UK is one of only five of the richest 21 countries to see HLE decline. @ONS reports that healthy life expectancy is falling. BSRA advocates for increased funding in ageing research so we can all live healthier for longer. Dataset in the comments 👇 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Latest paper. We studied ATF4 in ageing in the fly. We find in contrast to previous suggestions that ATF4 suppression rather than activation extends lifespan. The study was largely conducted in an MSc project by Miriam Götz who showed an exceptional drive for science. www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
Travel Grants for #BSRA2026!!! Don't forget there is a seperate travel grant call *just* for BSRA 2026, our 75th annual meeting. This year in Oxford, it's promising to be a great meeting. bsra.org.uk/grants/ Like and share, or tag someone who should apply below👇
A progeria syndrome links DNA hypermethylation to age-related pathology - Nature Genetics
This study investigates the consequences of hypermethylation in a progeria syndrome caused by gain-of-function DNMT3A mutations, finding effects on adult stem cell function.

Tardigrades resist heavy DNA damage by actively repairing such lesions & expressing DNA-protective proteins. Yet, they are not immortal. How & why do they die? @morielab.bsky.social now shows that their Achilles' heel is DNA replication: duplicating your DNA... will kill you doi.org/10.1111/febs...
Excited to share our latest paper! We found that large pieces of the human genome can transfer between cells upon direct contact, endowing recipient cells with heritable phenotypic changes. @cp-cell.bsky.social (1/7) www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...
