The Elephant in the room isn’t that Brexit caused the decline of the £, it’s that even if Brexit didn’t happen the £ would still be having a downward trend.

Yeah, showing only the Brexit effect does make it look dramatic, and it did knock the £ down, no question. But over the 27 years since the euro launched, sterling has been on a broader downward trend. Its 2010–15 recovery owed a lot to the Eurozone debt crisis weakening the euro.
