Jun 18, 1910: the Polson Iron Works launches the Toronto Ferry Company's $75,000 side wheel steamer "Trillium" at the foot of Sherbourne Street. The Trillium was acquired by the Toronto Transportation Commission when it took over operation of island ferry services in 1926. 1/2
The ferry was sold to the Metro government in 1957 and abandoned in a Toronto Island lagoon. She was restored to operation in 1976, at a cost of $950,000. The then-107 year-old Trillium was refurbished again in 2017. The city appears to have removed her from service in 2025. 2/2
The Tempo train sets survived into the VIA Rail era, when they were sold to a ski train in Colorado and a mining/commuter operation in Quebec. The Colorado cars returned to Canada in 2009, and have since been used on the Agawa Canyon tourist train in northern Ontario. 3/3
