Renewable electricity can help reduce Ireland’s exposure to imported fossil fuels and volatile energy markets. The Council's latest Review highlights the role of renewable delivery and grid infrastructure in strengthening energy security. Read more: shorturl.at/fKhhZ
Ireland’s renewable electricity capacity continues to grow. By end-2025, 7.7GW had been installed. In 2025, 0.8GW of new onshore wind and solar was added. Around 2GW of new onshore renewable capacity is needed each year to meet 2030 targets. Read more: shorturl.at/fKhhZ.
Electricity emissions continued to fall in 2025. The Council's Review finds emissions fell by around 8.9%, supported in part by imports, renewables and lower data centre demand. It also highlights the role of grid infrastructure in using more renewable electricity. Read more at shorturl.at/fKhhZ
