🐜 Investigating African leaf-litter ants
📄 Our members Kiko Gómez and Daniel Sánchez-García have contributed to a fascinating new study on African ant fauna, published in the journal African Invertebrates 👇
🌍 The research combines more than 600 published records, validated citizen science observations and new field data, highlighting the growing role of platforms such as iNaturalist in the early detection of exotic species.
🐜 The study confirms the presence of 40 non-native species, nearly four times the number known at the beginning of the century. Among them, 13 are considered invasive, while others still require closer monitoring to determine their status.
