The number of tribunal appeals over local authority refusals to provide SEND support for children has rocketed by 55 per cent in a year, and the vast majority still find in favour of families
Labour announces £700m to improve access to mainstream schools for students with SEND. That’s approx £35,000 per school. It’s not enough and it’s not sustainable. The whole system needs to change. Scrapping high stakes testing and accountability measures would immediately improve access.
This is what happens when you allow the demonisation of asylum seekers. That such vulnerable people in such desperate need can experience such neglect and abuse is a source of national shame.
