How Canada’s purchase of submarines is getting people worked up about a pretend ‘spaceport’ in Nova Scotia Morning File by me
This is insane. It's exactly the kind of work that needs human discernment. Beyond that, of course they start with prisoners because the public broadly doesn't care. Disposable humans. But first prisoners, then you.
Unpopular take: dubbing of foreign language movies is better than subtitles. I know the sophisticated arty thing is to prefer subtitles, but I'm either reading the subtitles or I'm looking at the cinematography. I can't do both. I'd rather lose the specific voice and see the specific visuals.
The writers, 5 cocktails in: Writer 1: OK, like Wag the Dog, the movie, the president was a pedophile, I like that plot. But let’s make the Albanians good guys and they win the war. Writer 2: this plot is so stupid. I’m in. Writer 3: Let’s do another line.
Someone slammed into traffic stopped for construction on the 103, killing someone else
I mean provincial and federal governments have contracts with American companies as it is. They’re already vulnerable to espionage. Use of AI in provincial government offices has been on the rise since 2023 or so. Not surprising they’re swallowing the AI boot.

LLMs aren’t so much time- and labour-saving as they are a mechanism to transform that meaningful time and labour onto the **waste** of someone else’s time and labour.

Social media posts and messaging about the planned launches suggest there’s been no shortage of confusion and consternation over the planned launches.
