4/5 But these four deserve our full support. They’re flying the critical dress rehearsal in low Earth orbit — testing docking and operations with the Starship HLS and Blue Moon pathfinders — before the real lunar landing missions begin.
3/5 Yes, it’s an all-male crew with strong military backgrounds. Many people (including me) are disappointed not to see any female astronaut selected this time.
2/5 Pilot Luca Parmitano, ESA’s two-time space veteran and the first Italian to command the ISS. Mission Specialist Frank Rubio, physician and long-duration record holder. Mission Specialist Andre Douglas on his first flight.
5/5 Artemis IV is the one that should finally put women back on the path to the Moon. For now, let’s cheer on the Fantastic 4. History loading… Earth → Moon #ArtemisIII #NASA #Moon2027 #ESA
🧵1/4 9 June, 1905: Einstein's seminal article on the photoelectric effect, received by "Annalen der Physik" March 18, was published. The article proposed the idea of light quanta, extending Planck's quanta to light itself.⚛️🔭🧪 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1... #histsci #science #physics
This thread is pure magic.🔭🧪⚛️ In 2D, gravity doesn’t make black holes — it makes "cones"! And everything turns into convex #polyhedra. #Geometry + General Relativity explained in the most elegant way. One of the best #science threads in a long time. Definitely read it! ⤵️

In general relativity, a point mass just sitting there is inevitably a black hole. But that's when you're living in 3d space (and one dimension of time). In 2d space, a point mass creates a less drastic singularity: a 'cone point'. I've been studying these cone points lately, just for fun. (1/n)
