Another one I've been waiting awhile to see actually happen. Excited to ride the swing bridge over to see how this actually works. Experience the Schuylkill River in a whole new way with FloatLab – NBC10 Philadelphia share.google/bKlurEwp0lOI...
Glad to see this is finally becoming reality, now make it permanent! Reading Terminal Market opening outdoor plaza – NBC10 Philadelphia share.google/ssCqgkGVNTp7...

A floating public space is making its way to the Schuylkill River this week, where it will offer the country’s first tide-responsive experience.

This is an obvious candidate for opening up the street to pedestrian only. Imagine the whole block a farmers market during the day then extended dining at night. Make the southern half of the block an actual plaza instead of glorified parking and you wouldn't have a single vacancy on the block.
But how is it possible to have any sporting event without suburbanites driving in and filling our sea of parking lots? We were told we need every space and that people would definitely not come to an arena in the middle of the city without parking!
I see this area becoming the true cheese steak capital of Philly with John's right around the corner. Literally 1 and 1a around the corner from each other.
Not enough people are talking about this, sadly it'll be forgotten by the end of this weekend

I know she's not progressive enough for some people but I really hope we haven't seen the last of Rhynhart.

Only problem I have with this is that it incentivizes parking. Rather get rid of car infrastructure as much as possible.
Destroying kids ballfields so that suburbanites can zoom in and out of the city faster is helping Philly how? If you really wanted to fix congestion you could give that money to septa to expand transit.
And ruin ball fields for kids
