Cuckoo in flight at Hob Hole this afternoon - superb to see, plus 1st painted lady of the season for me at Margrove, then home to a hunting sparrowhawk taking out starlings. @teesbirds.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social
Decent amount of swifts passing through at Scaling Dam yesterday late afternoon too. Didn't manage a count but at one point the sky over the car park had plenty of them in it. Really good to see.
Great views of a red kite over Blakey Ridge - superb to see. House martins learning the ropes in Skelton, looks like a good few successful broods. Nursery web spider with prey in Easington - good numbers of swift & painted lady passing through too. @teesbirds.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social
Stunning male redstart with willow warbler providing great soundtrack at Sleddale, then home to greenfinch serenading collared dove in garden near Loftus. @teesbirds.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social
Stunning, both bird and photo.
Thank you Carolyn that's very kind of you to say. Little stint proved a treat as it had been just a speck on the far bank whilst I was there. Was just leaving when it flew straight towards the hide. Gave great views for a few minutes then flew back to the far bank. Nice of it to do that.
Osprey heading west over Grinkle Lane this afternoon. @teesbirds.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social

Little stint, ringed plover, meadow pipit, & wheatear in the sunshine & showers at Scaling Dam this afternoon. @teesbirds.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social
Redstart family at Sleddale doing well, much activity & feeding going on. Green woodpecker on post beside the road at Commondale church but driving & unable to stop for a photo unfortunately. Nice to see nevertheless & good to know they're about. @teesbirds.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social
