This is my experience of being very closely apprised of what’s in the daily papers and then talking to the public about they think is happening. Almost everyone thinks they’re bullshat a bit here and there. They don’t have clue certain papers are semi-detached from reality, selling a rich fantasia.

Not to be all “start guillotining newspaper editors and don’t stop til the situation improves”, but like, there’s a powerful narrative that welfare is exclusively for scroungers. It might be naive, but believing the media is not deliberately lying to you, is how society is supposed to work
