This is a big part of how it worked last time. bsky.app/profile/flyi...
Like, what do we think they meant by “electable”? Good things that the public would like and want? Please
Really peculiar that the leader of Scottish Labour wouldn’t mention Glasgow in his post about last night’s violence.
Not to be all "what are you doing" but is there going to be any actual practical changes arising from a series of far right riots leaving people afraid and trapped in their own homes?
I mean, look. Does it not strike you as weird how, every time e.g. Lampert at the Mail goes looking for frightening racism in Britain, she finds it in a unionised public service profession or at the BBC, or the Guardian? Are there no racists in organisations regular right wing fucknuts don’t hate.
You will recall, less than a year ago, British police were instructed to disclose the ethnicity of suspects of crime as an explicit sop to the far-right after their last attempt to gin up pogroms. Our then-Home Secretary, now Foreign Secretary, lauded the move. Do we think this helped.

Again, even the craziest Israel partisan wingnuts are best understood as just bog-standard wingnuts, with much the same deeply unpleasant wingnut behaviours and fixations as all the other wingnuts.

There are individual true believers with wacky ideas involved but broadly, it may not be more complicated than “give our abysmal newspapers and a select crew of zillionaire swine whatever they ask for, and they’ll agree to let you have a turn in the big chair”.

*I’d add: gave away all that capacity from an ideological commitment to removing as much as possible from democratic control, because it should rightly be owned and managed by the private sector. And wouldn’t want it back, if you gave them a magic button that gave them back control.

In fairness to ‘em, the NS are correctly asserting - with evidence - that successive governments sold or outsourced most of the state’s capacity to improve society somewhat*. The Spectator is repeating a lot of gargling Nazi horseshit about The Suicide Of The West. These are not the same.

Keir Starmer's spokesman tells me there has been "no change" to the Government's policy on using X, despite Elon Musk helping to incite the hateful scenes we saw in Belfast last night. Also no new plans to take action against X for its role in the violence
