Happy #HaikuSaturday.

The force of rain storms
rounds out rocks, erodes the shore—
the last sand standing.
Happy Saturday!
colors and patterns
Intermingle, intertwine
blooming together
#haiku #haikusaturday
travel day
I linger over
coffee and a house finch
if my parents were swifts,
"you can do it," they'd say, "you
belong in the sky!"
#haikusaturday
wet paper
rain writes
a letter
#haiku #sixwords
birdsong before dawn
still darkness absence of thought
a singing silence
#haiku #silence
there are things
that exist
because we fail
to forget them
they are made
of almost
and after
and the part of silence
that is not empty
we carry them
without carrying
each one
too slight
yet together
they alter the weight
of being here
Celebrating #haikuSaturday with a tribute (and breaking a few haiku rules in the process) to the daylily plant, which produces blooms that last only for a day:
new day. new lily
petals peel and spread and sway
present perfect now
