By creating the circumstances where Iran felt justified in shutting the Straight of Hormuz, the US has threated global supplies, especially oil and fertilizer, which affects, if not everyone on the planet, a significant percentage of us. Does that approach rise to Trinity? 5/5๐๏ธ
Obviously, that definition, while satisfying, is not useful (also, I believe the scientists didn't really think it was likely?). But, it makes me wonder if the current conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran counts. 4/5๐๏ธ
We need more voices to step up and say the Trump administration should pause all federal student loans until major issues with the system are figured out.

Many years ago, preparing for an oral exam on Total War and Human Rights with Jean Quataert, I read some papers presented at a conference on Total War about defining the quality of totality as it pertained to war. 1/5๐๏ธ
Historians wanted a definition that was broader than "WWII" but not as broad as "all human wars ever," and it's really difficult - total war is like fish or trees in that regard, once you start trying to define them, you realize they don't exist. 2/5๐๏ธ
