🎉 Congratulations to all authors on this brilliant paper and the well-deserved JCB cover feature! 👏 A beautiful study connecting cortical cytoskeleton organization, cell shape, signaling, and epidermal differentiation. We are truly excited to see our technology contribute to this outstanding work.
2/2 ⚡ A pulsed UV laser with high peak power can induce localized lesions with subnuclear precision. ⚙️ UGA-42 Caliburn is designed for this type of controlled, localized laser damage: moving a small focused pulsed laser spot within the FOV for precise #photomanipulation workflows.

1/3 How does the cortical #cytoskeleton connect cell shape w/ cell fate? A recent @jcb.org @rupress.org paper by Soffer et al. uses the #epidermis to study how shape transitions are coordinated w/ differentiation. The study identifies #spectrin as an essential organizer of the #actomyosin cortex.
2/3 Layer-specific cortical organization helps integrate mechanics, signaling, and epidermal barrier formation. The work was also featured on the cover of the JCB issue. We made a short summary of the key findings, but the full paper contains many more experiments worth reading.
1/2 🧬 For #DNArepair studies, chemically-induced damage is often too blunt. 🎯 Local laser-induced #DNAdamage changes the experimental game. Instead of damaging the whole sample, one can target a selected nuclear region and follow the response over time with #LiveImaging. #Microscopy #Bioimaging
