I really dig those author bios that are just two straightforward sentences, but they're generally considered a flex and I have, well, very little to flex so my own bio is every sentence ever. 🤷‍♂️🚫💪
Did I mention Beaverdale Books yet? I didn't? What the hell's wrong with me? Welcome to a cornerstone of the Des Moines literary community. How did I get lucky enough to be included in the collection of such a heavy hitter in my state's capital city? 🤷‍♂️ I asked nicely and they said, "Come on out!"
The main indepedent in my area, The Bookworm, supports over 100 book clubs and 1,200 active book club members. They're also the closest place to my house to pre-order (now) or purchase (fall 2026) The Mess That Made Them. Omahomies: You know what to do. (I was immediately sorry I called you that.)
Why was I sleeping on Taylor Jenkins Reid? Damn she's good.
My first Goodreads review was 5⭐️, so if we just stick to that forever then everything will be just fine. #skywriters
Meet the Characters, Part Four: Working in the Future’s Shadow. Woolf. Wood. Malevich. Debussy. Four artists working toward futures they could not fully see, while the world around them kept trying to explain what they were doing too soon. #booksky

The full bio I saw that inspired this post: Meg Charlton lives in New York City. Voyagers is her first novel. #booksky
How is it possible that there's a Lil Wayne lyric for every occasion? It's crazy. Don't believe me? Comment away. I can prove it.
I decided to write professionally in 2024. Since then, I've queried, been out on sub, and maintained a steady pipeline of submissions w/much success. The odds of my specific outcomes are roughly 1 in 2,000.* I've still averaged one rejection every 42 hours. Keep going. (*Best avail data, which 🤷‍♂️)
It's lovely to have such supportive friends in the book world. (Frankly, my non-book world friends could take a lesson.) Don't read this bc I'm in it. Kristin and Melissa could have covered this ground just fine w/o me. Read it because bumping into the truth on the internet can be such a rarity.
