The only ethical position for all juries, at least for cases like this one, is to find the defendants innocent of everything regardless of how "perverse" such a verdict might appear.
I think Mamdani's a vast improvement over what NYC usually gets itself into, mayor-wise.
But the pussyfooting around cops, the photo ops with Trump... he's been pretty clear about who he is when it comes to dealing with violent authoritarians.
Which is unfortunately the issue of our time
Between this and his abandonment of trans children y’all gotta take off your rose colored glasses because we will never get him to move on any of this unless we’re standing up to him rather then kissing his feet and trying to get a selfie with him.
I love this dude, he's the shiznit, BUT ALSO he's an elected politician, and we have a responsibility to hold electeds accountable for the things they promise and the things they do. No politician deserves the benefit of the doubt when they walk back campaign promises, MAKE THEM MAKE THE CASE.
We teach kids growing up that genocide is the highest crime humanity can commit and we must do everything we can to prevent it and then give people decades in prison if they try and stop weapons from being shipped for a genocide.
3 of the 4 only did destruction of property
I hate to tell y’all this and you’re not gonna like it and it’s gonna make you mad but Mamadani is absolutely fucking INCREDIBLE at propaganda and how good he is at getting you to spread it.
I’m not saying you should hate him!!! I’m saying be realistic. His actions don’t match his rhetoric.
Ian Fleming might have made the world’s first trillionaire this evil, but only Philip K. Dick could have made him such a pathetic drug-addled loser, desperate for attention and adulation but incapable of human relationships, and now terrified to go out in public.
I need to be clear: the conversation in this thread is ABRIDGED from its real length of approximately TWENTY MINUTES
NO
You’re not even a New Yorker. You don’t get to come into my mentions and tell me I’m expecting too much from someone I voted for.
And asking him to fulfill his campaign promises IS NOT THE FUCKING SAME THING AS ASKING FOR PERFECTION THAT RESULTS IN REPUBLICANS
James Hazen

Yeah, I mean, he made three specific campaign promises about the NYPD and he’s walked them all back. They weren’t particularly ambitious promises either

I have an impacted molar. I am in excruciating, unbearable pain. All the dentists are closed because it is Friday at 9 PM. I am so fucked up by pain and unable to focus I ask my friend Ash if she can come over and find me an emergency dentist. Best she can find is a telehealth call. I take it.
