Some peatlands in Central Europe serve as continuous refugia for glacial species, as shown by paleoecological data. However, the ecosystem mechanisms behind this are not well understood. Microclimate...

After a fantastic conference in Montpellier with @mebconf.bsky.social, where we shared #MIRECLIM results, we’re back in the field on our peatlands. Blooming cottongrass, cranberries, and stunning peatland views remind us why we love this work. And pesticide-free cereal field, simply beautiful!

👉🔬Tomorrow, Polish scientists will be protesting in front of the Polish parliament. We are calling for fair salaries and proper funding for research that strengthens our country and global science. #3procentnanauke
We collected some peat cores for physico-chemical analyses. Our #Mireclim sites are very diverse. And the last photo – that used to be a Tomst logger. Looks like the animals had a party. Again 🙂 @igsopas.bsky.social @calliergon.bsky.social @aghalas.bsky.social
We cordially invite you to join the Peatland group within the MEB-network!
A good end to the year for Mireclim! A paper has just been published that highlights the role of peatlands as climate-change refugia in Central Europe and the importance of microclimate. It is part of the special issue *Climate Change Refugia Conservation* in *Conservation Science and Practice*.
