Nobody outside Southern California would have any reason to know Santa Clarita exists if not for that weird but fun Netflix show from like ten years ago. 230,000 people live there.

LA is mind bindingly big and also lots of places you think are "LA" are their own cities! Santa Monica is its own city, so is West Hollywood. A bunch of places are "unincorporated."
