The Prime Minister once warned that selling off Sydney Harbour’s public assets would be a “retrograde step” because “if we get it wrong once, it disappears forever.” I’m calling on the Government to protect this site for future generations, not carve it up for the highest bidder.
Parliament returns today. 📚 This week I’ll be focussed on the Appropriations Bills , illicit tobacco laws and the NDIS Bill. I’ll assess each on its merits: whether it is workable, evidence-based and in the best interests of Warringah & Australia. Share your views: [email protected]

Earlier this year, I moved an amendment calling for stronger safeguards where these extraordinary powers could be used on children. Australia can keep people safe while upholding human rights, proportionality and the rule of law.
Today in QT, I asked the Treasurer what modelling the Govt has done on extending CGT changes beyond investment property & whether he will release it. You can watch the Treasurer’s full response on my website: zalisteggall.com.au/news
Leaked docs show that BHP delayed renewables, slowed electrification & weakened their climate commitments. And BHP reportedly received $622m in fuel tax credits after paying less than $9m under the Safeguard Mechanism. This is greenwashing propped up by bad policy.
Violence against women and children is a national crisis. It deserves national leadership. The PM says his government is doing “everything”, yet frontline services remain under-resourced and femicide remains a national crisis.

Gas v Beer revenue. #TaxTheGas
Modelling from the NSW Net Zero Commission shows climate impacts are dragging on productivity, wages, jobs and food prices. NSW residents are already estimated to be around $20,000 a year worse off due to historical climate change, with costs set to rise further without stronger action.
1,049 days after the Murphy Report was tabled, the Government has finally responded by “noting” all 31 recommendations. It's not good enough - Albanese must ban gambling advertising.
Here are this week’s bills scheduled for debate. I have concerns about the Tax Reform Bill - a large omnibus bill proposing significant changes across our tax system. While I support CGT reform for property, I am concerned by the Govt’s decision to extend those changes to shares & trusts.
