Some very cool simulations, look at those little guys climb that ladder!

How does your immune system tell pathogenic RNA from your own, even though theyโre made of the same stuff?
Our latest paper with @gantierlab.bsky.social shows some self RNA act as an off switch preventing autoimmunity in the absence of pathogens. ๐งฌ๐ฌโญ

Join us on campus & online on Thursday, 23 April 2026 at 1pm for a seminar by Dr Caroline Puente-Lelievre, Research Fellow from the School of Biological Sciences and Centre for Computational Evolution, University of Auckland. @corrylab.bsky.social Details: rb.gy/ik3ep3
You cant focus on new priorities if you don't have people and funding to do the work. Let's keep the scientists we do have.
Thank you Toby Allen and Ben Corry for that beautiful story, celebrating the life, work, and impact on our biophysics community that the late Shin-Ho Chung had.
Now for a special session all about ion channels! #ASB2025
๐ฅณSo excited to announce our latest preprint on PfFNT!! The lactate/H+ exporter from the malaria parasite that challenges the standard definitions of transporters vs channels ๐ชโจ 1/6

Here, the authors show that 2โ-O-methylated RNA fragments from ribosomal RNA naturally block TLR7 and TLR8, helping to avoid avoid harmful self-RNA detection and autoimmunity.
In this talk, I will show how combining phylogenetic inference, protein structure prediction, and ancestral sequence reconstruction opens new ways to investigate how protein functions originate and di...
Throughout my PhD, I determined the transport mechanisms of two proteins that we show break the standard channel / transporter definitions and instead function as anion โchansportersโ - proteins that exist somewhere on the spectrum between transporters and channels.

Save the CSIRO
Our national science & research agency is now facing more job cuts than under Tony Abbott
Call on the Albanese Govt to fund the scientists & research we need to tackle big issues we face from climate to food security and everything in between
