Computational protein research group of Prof Ben Corry. We love molecular dynamics and all kinds of membrane proteins including ion channels, transporters and immune receptors ~Posts by group members
Some very cool simulations, look at those little guys climb that ladder! #MolecularNodes
How does your immune system tell pathogenic RNA from your own, even though theyโ€™re made of the same stuff? Our latest paper with @gantierlab.bsky.social shows some self RNA act as an off switch preventing autoimmunity in the absence of pathogens. ๐Ÿงฌ๐Ÿ”ฌโญ www.nature.com/articles/s41590-026-02429-2
Join us on campus & online on Thursday, 23 April 2026 at 1pm for a seminar by Dr Caroline Puente-Lelievre, Research Fellow from the School of Biological Sciences and Centre for Computational Evolution, University of Auckland. @corrylab.bsky.social Details: rb.gy/ik3ep3
You cant focus on new priorities if you don't have people and funding to do the work. Let's keep the scientists we do have.
Thank you Toby Allen and Ben Corry for that beautiful story, celebrating the life, work, and impact on our biophysics community that the late Shin-Ho Chung had. Now for a special session all about ion channels! #ASB2025
๐ŸฅณSo excited to announce our latest preprint on PfFNT!! The lactate/H+ exporter from the malaria parasite that challenges the standard definitions of transporters vs channels ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ 1/6 tiny.cc/pffnt
Beginning 2026 with a flipping good paper๐Ÿš€ OSCA/TMEM63 proteins do double duty: theyโ€™re ion channels and mechanically activated lipid scramblases helping reshape membranes and survive mechanical stress. ๐Ÿ‘ @yiechanglin.bsky.social @charlesdcox.bsky.social doi.org/10.1038/s414...
Excited to share this paper from @yiechanglin.bsky.social showing how lipids can move between bacterial membranes along the bridge like protein TamB. Also happy to be able to post the cool movie. ๐ŸŽฅ๐ŸŒŸ #MDsimulations #StructuralBiology doi.org/10.1016/j.bp...
Join us on campus & online on Monday, 16 Feb 2026 at 1pm for a seminar by Ciara Wallis, PhD Candidate @corrylab.bsky.social! Details: biology.anu.edu.au/news-events/....

Here, the authors show that 2โ€™-O-methylated RNA fragments from ribosomal RNA naturally block TLR7 and TLR8, helping to avoid avoid harmful self-RNA detection and autoimmunity.

In this talk, I will show how combining phylogenetic inference, protein structure prediction, and ancestral sequence reconstruction opens new ways to investigate how protein functions originate and di...

BSB Seminar Series: Structural phylogenetics: tracing protein functions from origins to diversification
Throughout my PhD, I determined the transport mechanisms of two proteins that we show break the standard channel / transporter definitions and instead function as anion โ€œchansportersโ€ - proteins that exist somewhere on the spectrum between transporters and channels.
