I hope Hull History Centre won't mind me sharing this lovely letter from Roy Hattersley's papers, on the sad news of his passing aged 93. RIP.
She used the words female and male, so it seems like she was specifically trying to avoid this weird bait and switch. Yes, throughout human history, everyone would recognize that trans women are male. In the past maybe 20 years (?) there have been a very few who claim not to. 1/
