We ought to brace ourselves because I am sure many more games coming out in the next few years will have the same genAI story. It's terribly unfortunate and I hope this era ends soon. Also if you don't like my take on this and think I don't care about genAI problems then please mute me thanks.
I am all for the idea of avoiding these games for sake of protesting genAI, to say you don't want this and you want companies to stop using it ASAP. Still, when I watch people try to smear and tear down everything these games are, and the passion the devs clearly put into them, it makes me sick.
I genuinely believe the idea that many video game devs releasing games around this time used genAI in early development and then realized they should stop later. The tech had just been popularized and the controversy around it hadn't formed yet. Of course tech companies would jump on this!
"Expedition 33 is the reason game devs think they can get away with genAI" Do people not realize how long games take to make? The Exp33 story was last year. This statement makes no sense. Protesting genAI is a perfectly valid reason to not support a product but can we not throw out common sense?
