These events are great. They are one of the things I am most proud to be involved with. If you like Sebald or are just interested in an evening of shared ideas, chats over beers and a community where everyone is welcome, whether you've read a word of Sebald or not, then come join us and say hello.
We’ll talk about he means to us as readers and writers. Why you should read him if you haven't. And for me at least: why his work shows how stories can help us understand the past and therefore the present, and still be a bit funny along the way...
When I saw this syringe draw out the title of Olivia Rodrigo's new single at the start of its video, my mind instantly flying back to the late 1980s, that was it. My love of Rodders' music went up another notch – I had to write about her and @thecure.com for @thequietus.com.
Some pictures from our latest Immer Schon event at Lettretage… this time we were talking about Sebald and I read from A DREAM OF WHITE HORSES (@ofmooseandmen.bsky.social)… it was a fun evening! @marcelkrueger.bsky.social @ajbwells.bsky.social @juliabosson.bsky.social @return2sanders.bsky.social
Special mention to Marcel and @madeleinewatts.bsky.social for being on the panel and sharing their thoughts about Sebald’s work as well as reading pieces of their own. I always come away from these events so inspired…
I‘m delighted that I’ll be talking about W.G. Sebald with an amazing group of writers at @lettretage.de soon. “Sebald Remembering” takes place on June 6, and Madeleine Watts, @paulscraton.bsky.social and I will discuss Sebald’s work and his legacy. www.lettretage.de/programm/seb...
This Saturday at Lettretage I'll be talking with Madeleine Watts, Marcel Krueger and Sanders Bernstein @as part of our Immer Schon events, this time all about Sebald...
Tomorrow night!
The second half of the evening will be readings by writers inspired by the themes of Sebald's work...
Berliners! We’re spending a fine June evening talking about Sebald and then listening some great new writing in the spirit of all we’ll have chatted about. Join us? @marcelkrueger.bsky.social @madeleinewatts.bsky.social @return2sanders.bsky.social @ajbwells.bsky.social @juliabosson.bsky.social
