The very first draft of TCOE had a completely different plot - shortly after her arrival to Earth, Tempe went missing (sort of) and Kilo and Vi had to team up to find her. It wasn't working, for a few reasons, but I have at least 30k of that draft on the shelf.

For every person that's said the neopronouns in TCOE (for just one character!) are confusing, there's another person who said how happy they made them. I'm delighted to write for the second group, and if the first group find their next neopronoun encounter slightly less confusing, all the better.
