Spotlight on: Foxgloves
The Latin name for Foxglove, Digitalis purpurea, means purple finger – relating to the shape and colour of the stunning flowers.
It’s the plant source of the drug digitalis, used to treat heart problems.
Foxgloves love dry, disturbed ground and dappled shade.
