Recently I've stopped asking myself what makes a story or essay I've read *work* (structurally, mechanically, or otherwise) & started considering what about it *speaks to me.* It's been a hugely helpful distinction when I turn back to my own writing.
Yesterday on a walk I got the spark back—for the current story I'm drafting 💖 I hope it lasts but I'm grateful for however long it glitters!
