A Meal Moth (Pyralis farinalis) in the bathroom last night. I haven’t tracked down the source yet, but last time it was an ancient box of Ready Breck at the back of the kitchen cupboard #ukwildlife #teammoth
Bombus vestalis, the Southern Cuckoo Bee. A few of them buzzing around this bramble near Chettisham in Cambridgeshire yesterday evening #ukwildlife
Female Meadow Plant Bug (Leptopterna dolabrata) at Chettisham Meadow nature reserve near Ely yesterday evening #ukwildlife.
A newly emerged Small Tortoiseshell up on the North Norfolk coast this afternoon. Sadly not the common butterfly they used to be #ukwildlife #ukbutterflies #butterflies
The Bee Mimic Hoverfly (Volucella bombylans) has two main varieties, adapted to mimic the two different bee species whose nests they target. I managed to spot both on my stroll yesterday evening #ukwildlife
I am aware of the RSPB advice on feeding. I've chosen not to follow it fully as I rarely have finches visiting the garden. I'm feeding mostly suet and mealworms, which are taken with enthusiasm by the local Robins and Blackbirds, and I've left a couple of peanut feeders up for the sparrows and tits.
A short video of my first ever Marbled White, in East Cambridgeshire this evening #ukwildlife #ukbutterflies #butterflies
My local Great Tits seem to have had a successful breeding season. All four of my nestboxes occupied and now a garden full of fledglings. Lots of young Blue Tits about as well #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
