The monster is just the method. The metaphor. The allusion. The parallel. The allegory.
Most of these shorts start and end with "wouldn't this be scary?". They have horror imagery but no human insight.
Horror itself is one of the least interesting things horror can be about.

The best horror isn't about monsters. It's about people. Like science fiction, horror explores the human condition, but instead of asking who we might become, it examines who we already are. Our grief, guilt, cruelty, loneliness, violence, fear, and capacity for abuse.

Everything exists to serve the monster, the ghost, the twist, or the disturbing reveal. The characters exist to encounter it. The plot exists to reveal it. It all exists to serve the original concept they brainstormed, because there is no real meaning or story being told.

Every one of those YouTube horror shorts suck. I don't know who the creative mind behind them is, but they fundamentally misunderstand horror.
It's not that they're short, they're decently made even, but they have no story to tell - they're a concept with no foundation or meaning to them.
