I was in the room where this happened. I’m a digital services librarian, not a humanist. By the middle of the talk, my notes say “Will the full text be posted online later? Confused, maybe interested? Need to start at beginning again.”
I gasped when you asked your question. My attention had wandered. And I knew you were right.
The scholarly conversation just wasn’t there. No citations. No moments of connection in the q&a. Nothing to read later, even if the full text is available.
It’s years since I’ve been in a lecture hall this big! A very different world from the 15-person class I teach at Mount Allison.
This week I’m learning how to build digital collections with CollectionBuilder at #DHSI2026
