Yesterday, stratus clouds flowed northward along the California coast, filling in bays as it passed.

I know for aerospace applications with small production runs and strength requirements that this ultimately makes sense, but damn it feels wasteful vs casting... I'm sure the chips will make it back into an ingot at some point, but yeesh.
Let me try to take the other side here real quick - isn’t the value of the PhD the domain expertise that lets them skim a couple papers, see where they read on the BS-ometer, get a quick implementation so they can twiddle the knobs of a proof of concept, and see if they can extend it?

lol, I’m imagining the volume of aluminum chips that milling job generated…
Conspiracy time! Does CBS somehow share the infra for the CSPAN feed? Did they cut it at Bari’s request?

Like, if it makes the PhD expert more productive, don’t they become _more_ valuable? Because the model still can’t quite do research taste (though anecdata was that Fable was a step up).
That looks… pretty close to the deck! What are the typical horizontal/vertical terrain clearances for MTRs like VR-1355 or the fun stuff in R-2508 during normal training sorties?
There’s still the challenge that the production rate of shitty papers is up, so noise in the research environment is higher. But again, PhD domain expert will know which groups are doing meaningful work and can filter out the slop.
This is 100% fair. We will likely have quality/pipeline problems all over the place for a while until we figure out the right way to integrate it into pedagogy, society, and business.

Someone actually attempted to treat this concern seriously: spectrum.ieee.org/offshore-win...
