i think the dsa (and other left wing orgs, tbh i think the DSA is a boogeyman for the media) have gotten over the growing pains from the 2016 boom and have enough of a campaign apparatus to beat the dems head on in major cities. Everyone likes a winner!
Tbf the idea that establishment dem campaign organization for local races sucks is correct imo, and seeing that the left could scalp dem politicians in trump 1 even with little time to get established should have warned them that they have serious structural issues if losing to trump didnt.

Hell, you can see this in gop primaries! When trump endorses a candidate the results on if they win or not are mixed enough to show that the people who would vote on his say so just dont show up and it doesnt mayyer who he endorses
I mean the correct strategy was not starting the war to begin with. It started at 30%, your not building shit for support there and any attempt to do so just leads to a bunch of primaries as peoples expenses go up. Its like declaring that your going to build a skyscraper on swampland.

It also means coming to terms that in a lot of states "can win" simply isnt going to happen outside of established names without a decade of low level work to make the party palitable. You can have the best candidate in the world but you cant even contest city council its a weak foundation.
Every single midterm since trunp one has had the dems overperform polling in some eay simply because using the presidential election as a baseline means the number of gop voters is overestimated.
