Me on child poverty (and super cool to be asked to do this by Gordon Brown, for whom I once wrote HMT papers about child poverty).
A massive well done to my colleagues at @fraserofallander.org and @povertyalliance.org for pulling together this Tourism and Hospitality Toolkit to support workers and employers to navigate the challenges and opportunities in this hugely important industry. www.tourismhospitalitytoolkit.co.uk
We’re pleased to announce over £2.3 million in Programme Awards for twelve ambitious projects with the potential to create lasting change in poverty and trauma in #Scotland.
Thank you for this insightful summary of the broader benefits of protecting childhoods from poverty. Without being complacent the Scottish Child Payment has evidenced that effective social security measures can directly lift children out of poverty, it can be done quickly and effectively. 👇🏻

We're really pleased to join such a brilliant group of organisations in receiving funding from @therobertsontrust.bsky.social to develop our work with care workers and agricultural workers in Scotland. buff.ly/3ZWfJWf
We're very pleased to have secured support from @therobertsontrust.bsky.social to help more of Scotland's #SocialCare workers get a #LivingWage and a life beyond the injustice of in-work poverty. https://buff.ly/3ZWfJWf
My cautious hope for a more compassionate UK gvt is gone. The spring statement places the brunt of the ‘changing world’ firmly on the shoulders of those who can least bear it. Poverty in Scotland is lower due to devolved policies like SCP but what will the repercussions on Scottish households be?

New @jrf-uk.bsky.social research reveals Bangladeshi, Black African and Pakistani families are up to 5x more likely to be living in persistent very deep poverty compared to white families in the UK. We must continue applying a race equity lens to analysis of poverty. www.jrf.org.uk/race-and-eth...
Delighted at the calibre and innovation of these projects. They are designed to support work over the next 3-5 years that has a high potential for delivering significant, long-term impact, bringing to life real potential in tackling insecure work that drives poverty in Scotland.
