Tanita Tikaram, que, por cierto es muy activa (y activista) en Bluesky, tuvo mucho éxito a finales de los 80, especialmente con su álbum de debut. Desde entonces apenas la he seguido, pero ha continuado sacando discos más o menos regularmente, y en el último hay canciones muy guays, como esta.
“Twist In My Sobriety” salió en 1988 y al año siguiente la versionó Liza Minnelli (en el disco que hizo con Pet Shop Boys). Pocas pruebas más hacen falta de que fue un clásico instantáneo.

Un gran artículo sobre “The Queen Is Dead”, aunque parta de la premisa de su desmitificación (yo tampoco estoy seguro de que sea su mejor disco, ni soy especialmente fan de “Frankly Mr Shankly” y “Vicar In A Tutu”, pero sí adoro “Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others”).
He encontrado este vídeo que grabé en 2018 en una especie de clase magistral que dio Johnny Marr en la que estaba literalmente a metro y medio de él mientras explicaba cosas como el origen del riff de “Some Girls…”. Pelos como escarpias.
