Honestly it depends what appeals to you about Doctor Who? But imho the central commonality is the protag’s kindness and ingenuity winning against unspeakable evil
As such, series like Kuuga, W, Wizard (yuh huh), and Build are all shows I would recommend
For fans of older Who, KR ‘71 onwards
Yeah, which is why I’m super hesitant to recommend the ones most comparable to Who in premise haha
None of these shows are “like” Doctor Who the way some fans seem to want to interpret what I’m saying. I don’t think it has to be a 1:1. There’s just uncanny similarities here and there.

I've watched enough Kamen Rider by now to be able to say pretty definitively that my favorite Henshin in the entire franchise is here from Blade episode 19 where Tachibana chooses to fight rather than give in
I love the quick cuts, that he fends off the monsters *before* transforming, it's so good.

My biggest beef with Fuuto PI when it comes to comparing it to Kamen Rider W is that in the Fuuto PI anime, Shotaro - outside of turning into Kamen Rider - seems to be every bit as cool as he believes himself to be.
And a key aspect of Shotaro being enjoyable as a character is that he isn't.
