In all fairness, Carney's entire career is based on being risk averse. I knew his foreign policy would be weak. Davos was the most overtly critical of foreign governments he's ever going to be.
Oh wow.... Look at all those new follows. Great stuff.
Coastal GasLink took 5 years to build 670 km's, admittedly through the mountains, but the Canadian Shield also presents construction issues. At that pace, an LNG pipeline would take 25 years to complete from Hardisty to Montreal.
Let's do some math, shall we? I see Conservatives are still blaming Trudeau for saying there's no business case for an LNG pipeline to the east coast. Y'know what? He's absolutely right Coastal GasLink is a 670 km LNG pipeline from Dawson Creek to Kitimat. It cost $14.5 billion dollars ($21.6m/km)
Ask Australia what happened to their energy prices when they replaced domestic NG consumption with foreign LNG exports; their energy costs tripled because corporations were making more money shipping Australian natural gas overseas. There is NO business case for an LNG pipeline to the east coast

The distance from Hardisty, AB to Montreal is 3421 km's. The build cost of this would be $73.9 BILLION DOLLARS. And that's before you even build an LNG export facility for hundreds of millions of dollars to be able to load ships with LNG to take to Europe.
That No Faux King Way sign is good
But why can't we use Canadian Mainline, and existing natural gas pipeline, which travels from Hardisty to Toronto? Because that one ships NG; LNG requires a special refrigerated pipeline. Also the NG in Canada Mainline is for Ontario and Québec to use locally, not for export.
Spain has 49.5 million people. We have 41 million. Our population density in our major population corridors is very similar. We could do this too.
