Painted a test tile today to get a first feel for the material and workflow for the display. For a bit over 2 hours of work, I’m actually pretty happy with it, almost a shame I won’t be able to use this one for the #ArmyOnDisplay display.

10 days left for #ArmyOnDisplay.
Time for dirt and weathering.
And man, am I ready to hand this thing in and paint something without layer lines for a change. #WarhammerCommunity #PaintingWarhammer #Terrain
#ArmyOnDisplay update: specimen tank proof of concept 😁
Still need to figure out a few details, like how to make the Tyranid bits actually float and how to nail the perfect fill level for the tank, but overall… I’d say the plan works. #WarhammerCommunity #PaintingWarhammer
Display update: Fallback status reached. Not finished, but at least in a state where I could hand it in without being embarrassed. That leaves me 6 weeks for the finishing touches: weathering, specimen tanks, plants, lighting, and the bases. #WarhammerCommunity #PaintingWarhammer #ArmyOnDisplay
Display update: all floor tiles done, they turned out pretty decent. For the walls, my first idea was a kind of faded military paintjob. That really wasn’t it. Tried adapting the floor tile scheme instead: much better. Still not 100% happy with the rust yet… but we’ll get there. #ArmyOnDisplay
Test tank got Iron Hands Steel and hazard stripes on the base. What do you think #WarhammerCommunity: does it work for the tank and the overall #ArmyOnDisplay, or am I going too far with the hazard stripes, especially given that it’ll be two or three tanks in the end?

Display update: back wall finished. Weathering is “next”… except FDM layer lines keeps bullying every wash and streak I try. Not 100% sold on it yet… #WarhammerCommunity, leave it as is, or at least add a little Dirty Down Rust here and there… what do you think? #Terrain #3DPrinting #ArmyOnDisplay
First of two 3D-printed “floral containment units” (aka plant beds) for the biolab display, with some mesh added for a bit of extra detail. Sticking the plants into still-wet texture paste was… not my finest moment. But… crisis averted
