Human adrenal cortex organoids unlock new frontiers in development, disease, and regenerative therapy
Recent studies by Mayama et al. and Akkerman et al. established human adrenal cortex organoids that recapitulate fetal and adult adrenal development, offering unprecedented insight into differentiation pathways and allowing disease modeling. Though challenges like immature phenotypes and immune rejection will need addressing, they offer great potential for cell-based therapies.
