If anyone cares, this phenomenon is a big part of what activated me into local politics last year. Several IRL friends making direct statements that were all variants of, "Frey is a Republican". I think it shows a fundamental misunderstanding of Republican vs Democrat, it plays the same, stupid game

The rhetorical thing of calling Amy Klobuchar or Jacob Frey a Republican gets under my skin. It both whitewashes what a bunch of weird far-right freaks make up the Republican party, and ignores 30 years of political dealignment. Eden Prairie is D+25! Update your priors!
