If anyone cares, this phenomenon is a big part of what activated me into local politics last year. Several IRL friends making direct statements that were all variants of, "Frey is a Republican". I think it shows a fundamental misunderstanding of Republican vs Democrat, it plays the same, stupid game

Most (all?) major claims about water issues related to data centers are misleading at best, outright lies at worst.
Property owners (residential not commercial) basically don't keep empty units vacant on purpose. There's no good evidence that they do, it's just a brain-worm conspiracy meme.

To be fair most Americans have no idea where data centers are around them either. They oppose new ones as monstrosities that will destroy the community, but many people live close to one without a clue. This is very suggestive, because that is how NIMBYism often works.

The reason I’m hung up on the data center thing is that there are several different problems here:
1. Business interests shaking down the public by turning jurisdictions against each other
2. AI as a force for social change
3. Elon Musk flouting laws
4. Elon Musk scamming people with fake tech
Kobey Lane was a Republican until 5 minutes ago. She worked for a virulent anti-choice Republican AFTER Jan 6. She has no history in progressive politics. The idea that she is to the left of Klobuchar is laughable. If you support her you are telling on yourself.
