Age gating the internet is not about protecting kids. It's entirely about creating an ID barrier for everyone as a form of tracking and privacy invasion putting our data in the hands of private companies that have already proven insecure. This only hyperfuels scammers and makes everyone less safe.

We’ll likely never know (or at least not for a very long time), but the fact that 4 out of the 5 Eyes countries are adopting age restrictions on online activity is probably connected to the utility to their spy agencies of the inevitable precursor: digital identities & age verification.
