Brilliant analysis countering much of the "education is failing young people" and screen-phobia of the Milburn Report. It is 20 years of zero growth that means the job market is not there to support students and young people. Political class should look internally for the problem and not scapegoat.

The underlying assumption is that Manchester students are rich enough not to be already working. My own university is bringing in compulsory placements: one of the issues not raised AT ALL is that nearly every single student has a job already, quite often full-time. Are they meant to quit?
Not surprised in the slightest. Starmer has been trotting out the Tory's Greateat Hits since becoming PM. Clearly no sign of the listening and learning that has supposed to have taken place since the council elections.
I expect a similar letter to be drafted by the Office for Students in the not too distant future.
