In a new article, @matthew-bunn.bsky.social argues that Kennedy’s visionary speech “carries urgent lessons for today’s world of competition among nuclear-armed powers. ... The US president should not be afraid to take informal, unilateral steps to reduce tensions and smooth the path for accords.”
NEW: Our visual analysis suggests the U.S. hit two drinking-water facilities overnight in southern Iran with precision-guided munitions. Deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure could constitute a war crime. w/ @ckoettl.bsky.social @johnismay.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2026/06/10/w...
OTD in 1963, President John F. Kennedy delivered the commencement address at The American University: “Too many of us think [peace] is impossible. … Our problems are manmade—therefore, they can be solved by man. And man can be as big as he wants. No problem of human destiny is beyond human beings.”
OTD in 1963, JFK delivered his iconic American University speech—arguably the greatest address on nuclear weapons by a US president. Writing for @thebulletin.org, Matthew Bunn (@matthew-bunn.bsky.social) argues its lessons on unilateral restraint are urgently needed for President Trump today. 🧵👇

Seven months after jumping on Trump's anti-immigrant misinformation bandwagon by declaring that they expected to find hundreds, if not thousands, of illegal voters in Kansas, Kansas AG Kris Kobach has found exactly THREE, two of whom are registered Republicans. One is an elected Repub mayor.

One repulsive part of the U.S. debate about the Iran war is how little is said about the suffering the war is causing the Iranian people -- on top of all their suffering from a terrible government, decades of sanctions, etc.

Kris Kobach and Scott Schwab told reporters they expected to find hundreds if not thousands of noncitizen voting cases. So far, they've charged three.
How many noncitizen voters have Scott Schwab and Kris Kobach found?
What world is Trump living in? 1st he "loves inflation," then he seems to think we don't need anything from some of our largest trading partners, with whom our auto industry and many others are deeply integrated.

Big Money donors that buy elections don't care about cheaper health care costs, fair rent and housing prices, or reining in corporate price gouging. When power is concentrated amongst a small donor class, policies favor their profits over public need.
The dedicated men and women of the IC have got to be just seething over this guy with zero knowledge of their business being put in charge—and the President telling him to spend his time looking for nonexistent evidence of rigged US elections. www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...
