Still can't believe people were competitive over becoming a mod on the subreddit, I finally got a little tetchy about it one day and said "you know this is just a game about tiny fruits, right? not even fruits in cocktails with wee little umbrellas, it's just, you know, one small fruit"
The subreddit for a game app that I co-mod has had not one, not two, but three people this weekend casually mention that they fell asleep *while playing the game*

Reasons for writers to use "big" words:
1) The "big" word conveys a nuance of meaning that the "normal" word may not, being too vague
2) The "big" word sounds cool (as in, the word actually does sound cool and not like the writer is trying to get sapiosexually laid)
3) You fucking feel like it
