It’s not really surprising that people are becoming more distrustful and cynical about tech (and everything else) when there’s a constant drumbeat of stories, like this, about a seemingly innocuous game/tool/website harvesting data that is then used for murderous purposes:

Convincing-but-fake AI videos are popping up more. This week I saw:
- Stephen Colbert saying he and Scott Pelly are launching a new, 60 Minutes-type show.
- Cenk Uygur (from The Young Turks) said Israel killed Yemen’s PM and the entire Yemeni cabinet.
Both were utterly convincing. And untrue.
In my city, Loblaws has shuttered essential neighbourhood-level grocery stores then applied a covenant to the building sale so it can’t house another grocery store. They want to drive traffic to district-level stores - and it degrades neighborhoods.

At what point is Europe/the West at war with Russia? Assassinations and arson in Britain, blowing up rail lines in Germany, blocking GPS in the Baltic. I do hope surreptitious agents are hacking Russian computers mercilessly and undermining the ruble with abandon.
