The Waters of Mars, maybe RTD's best ever episode, barely lands on the list at 43! School Reunion and Last Christmas both placed higher! Anyway, wow, amazing.
LMAO The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit in the top 20, incredible nonsense, this is Rolling Stones Top Albums level war crimes. Tooth and Claw is in the top 50! Power of Three is in the top 50! THEY ARE BOTH higher on the list than The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang! hahahahahah
In other news, I made the mistake of finally looking at EW's 50 best episodes of Doctor Who and it's a war crime from top to bottom. Blink as #1, obviously boring nonsense, but Girl in the Fireplace as #2 is even worse, but the real war crime is Army Of Ghosts/Doomsday being over Heaven Sent.
As a Beach Volleyball Fan, I will never be free of hearing this for the rest of my life when I turn the sport on, god damnit.
I do kinda like Xander talking her down and it not ending in violence, but it's hard to keep a grasp on that when Willow's plan was some kind of incomprehensible "find a temple in Sunnydale so she can destroy the world for Emotional Reasons" thing.
Coda: The God Complex is not on the list at all.
At the time, it was all kinda hype because everyone loved Vampire Willow and loved Dark Phoenix and so it felt super neat that we were getting a mashup of that, but man does it not hold up in any way on reflection, all the way to the incredible weird conclusion.
The thing about Evil Willow in season 6 is that it sucks and is terrible writing at almost every step of the way and yet somehow season 7 does even worse with Willow, a stunning achievement in showrunning.
So, uh, is Anthropic getting Night of the Long Knives-ed by its fellow Longtermism Weirdos?
