I guess we now know why the DOJ is intervening to help xAI illegally poison Memphis
Like, Junior Vasquez did a Jars of Clay remix? It used to have that kind of legitimacy. Top end producers don’t have anything as culturally vibrant to work with in that industry anymore. It’s sad, but I also don’t mourn it. It’s just another teenaged thing gone, filtered through sentimentality.
There was a moment in the mid-to-late 90s where Orange County wasn’t this deranged hotbed of fascism but cultivated an interesting music scene that included Hoku Ho (really) and this kawaii kraftwerk dude and his brother doing Jesus and Mary Chain tributes, and it’s a little sad that all died away.

It’s not much of a mystery what happened — cultural tastes changed, evangelicalism went from a little fringe to a mainstream movement. Bands like Switchfoot went from scrappy little California surfer rock outfits to movie soundtracks, and the little spark of life got sucked out of the scene.
I liked this as a closeted evangelical teen in the 90s (🫩) because it was “approved” by being on a Christian label but also unusual and creative, but as an adult knowing he programmed each sound from scratch on an old Moog with no libraries or samples makes me respect the hell out of it

Temu Phyllis Schlafly is just an incredible place to go in 2026.

They hate gender studies for the same reason they hate legitimate journalism: They don’t like people pointing out what they’re doing.
