In very rough times it was lovely to get to enjoy some brilliant historical storytelling with a packed audience (who clearly see a place for history and the arts in their life)

Well here we go. End of Humanities provision at an institution that championed the value of Humanities even when it was a 1950s Tech College. CP Snow was a fan and wrote in his famous "Two Cultures" (1959) that "the intellectual life of the whole of western society" rested on Science and Humanities.
With the plans to retract and close swathes of departments across UKHE, we reaffirm the value of the humanities and other subject areas under threat. A broad and capacious knowledge base is vital for a thriving democracy.
