I had a relative who was very pro cutting the public service. Said it was overbloated, lazy, etc.
After the cull had reached 6000, I said "how has your life changed now with 6000 fewer public servants?"
"It hasn't" they said.
"And how do you think their lives have changed?"
"Oh" they said.
Ran out of characters. But the "oh" at the end was a moment of clarity. When you introduce the actual human into the story, people get it better.
